This is the first time I've used acrylics on canvas. Well...first time on canvas really...at all. Well, there was one time in high school where we did these purple things from an overhead as a group activity about school historical events, but that doesn't count for this particular argument. The hair was doen with a toothbrush. The canvas was $3 at GO-LO. The paints were Chromacryls, found in a box int he house, a lot of the paints were seperated, so lots of shaking them like maracas. See, this is Tim Minchin. Tim Minchin is brilliant. And not just for his hair. Anyhow, Tim was doing a show in Sydney (at the Opera House...how SPIFFY). And lo, we organised 20 people to come to the show. So I painted a portrait of Tim Minchin. Started it on...the 4th of May? I think? Maybe? Anyhow, it was about a week in the making. The progress picture links will be up at the end of this description. So, back to the show; was bloody awesome. And, in the part of the show where Tim was talking about the girls int he front with their custom t shirts and Tim dolls, I launched the painting on a crowd surf down to the stage. Phwoar, that was suspenseful. And there was hilarity ensuing, with suspense. If I told the WHOLE story, we'd be here for ages, and deviantart would probably rip out my toenails while I sleep. For it seems to be that kind of a website. *cowers* ANYHOW! Got it signed, by Tim Minchin (and me, later, because he said I had to. Also said I had to become famous. Yes Mister Minchin Sir!) Here are some of the progress pictures (for anyone who wants to steal my new painting skillz, IN REVERSE ORDER): [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] And here are some photos of the signing: [link] [link] |
